Our office is stocked with of state-of-the-art technology, Fully-loaded, as they say in the automotive industry, Top Down Dental in Los Gatos has all the technology you need for comfortable, safe, effective dental treatments.

Take A Closer Look At What We Have To Offer:

Diagnodent

One of the Dental Industry’s Most Accurate Cavity Detection Laser

diagnodent technologyUsing traditional cavity detection methods such as visual inspection, x-rays and tactile inspection, we can only detect cavities once they are big enough to see or feel. With Diagnodent we can find cavities on the chewing surfaces of your back teeth in their infancy, before they begin to be problematic. Just like other areas of medicine and dentistry, early detection and treatment is extremely valuable in preserving good health.

Anutra Buffered Local Anesthesia

Local anesthesia injections can be very painful, but they don’t have to be. Anutra eliminates painful acid from the anesthesia. This not only reduces discomfort, it also makes the anesthesia faster, improves reliability, and allows the anesthesia to penetrate deeper into your tissue.

CS 3600 Digital Impressions

Do you hate biting down into messy and yucky impression trays? Would you like it if we could just wave a wand over your teeth and get the impressions we need to make your crowns, veneers, and other restorations? That’s what CS 3600 does: it’s a digital scanner that we wave over your teeth to construct a 3D digital impression that can be used to craft dental restorations. It takes less time than traditional impressions, and we can also use it for planning orthodontic treatment like Invisalign. Plus, the CS 3600 is clinically proven to be the most accurate digital scanner on the market, which means more accurate treatment and better results.

Digital Radiography Technology

Computer-Generated Images with A Fraction of the Radiation

Digital radiography is a form of X-ray imaging, where digital sensors are used instead of photographic film. Digital radiography reduces radiation by as much as 90 percent. At Top Down Dental in San Jose/Los Gatos, we use digital intraoral X-rays. Intraoral x-rays are the most common radiographs made.

Like most people who visit the dentist, you’ve probably had many sets of intraoral radiographs in your life, and you’ll likely have many more. Because they give a high level of detail, these are the X-rays that allow us to find cavities, look at the tooth roots, check the health of the bony area surrounding the tooth, see the status of developing teeth, and otherwise monitor good tooth health.

Diode Laser

A Non-Invasive Gum Disease Treatment

biode-laser technologyLaser treatment is a highly effective, innovative new procedure for periodontal (gum) disease. If you are a good candidate for this treatment, your experience will generally be quite comfortable.

The laser uses light to kill the bacteria and diseased tissue that would normally have been removed by surgery. Using the laser and a combination of ultrasonic and hand scalers, and irrigation we remove bacteria and diseased tissue from your gums, cleanse the root surface of your teeth, and sterilize the periodontal pockets (the crevices between your teeth and gums that the bacteria created).

Lasers can also be used in many other soft-tissue procedures and preventive treatments. In all cases, the result is better, faster and more convenient care

Intra Oral Camera

A Diagnostic and Education Tool

An intra oral camera is small, sterilized probe shaped camera that we can move around the inside of your mouth. What you’ll get is a tooth by tooth video exam of the inside of your mouth enlarged in living color on our computer screen. It helps us to see problem areas that could easily be missed with a visual examination, and helps you to better understand your dental needs by actually seeing what we see.

CS 9000 3D Extraoral Imaging System

In an ongoing effort to provide you with the best care possible, we have recently added the CS 9000 3D Extraoral Imaging System to our practice, revolutionizing patient treatment. The CS 9000 3D System is an innovative two-in-one solution providing access to powerful, focused field 3D images. The capabilities of 3D imaging offer a wide range of diagnostic possibilities such as endodontics, implantology, and other surgical and dental applications.

Most importantly, the CS 9000 3D System was designed to acquire 3D images on a specific dental region of interest, so technicians are able to target the exact area for the 3D exposure. This significantly reduces the amount of radiation, delivering 10-30 times less exposure than other dental radiography systems.

Benefits include:

  •  High-resolution images: Dr. Nehawandian can view your teeth more clearly
  • Less radiation, more safety
  • Improved patient care: Dr. Nehawandian can perform a wider range of diagnoses, helping reduce multiple visits, saving you time and money
  • Comfortable positioning: when images are taken, you sit facing your dental professional, making the shot more comfortable for you

K-7 Evaluation System

A Diagnostic and Treatment Tool for TMD

k7The K-7 evaluation system is a complex computer system that is crucial to diagnose and treat your TMD effectively. By using non-invasive electronic instrumentation it will take a 3-dimensional measurement of the movement and speed of your jaw’s opening and closing, record the electrical impulses originating in your jaw muscles, and provide precise information about the state of your jaw muscles at rest as well as their efficiency when biting. It also precisely records any clicking and grinding jaw sounds that may occur as you open and close your mouth. Last, but not least, its Computerized Jaw Tracking system records the position and movements of your jaw.

ULF-TENS

Muscle Relaxation for TMJ relief

ULF-TENS stands for Ultra Low Frequency Transcutaneous Electrical Neural Stimulation. Basically, it’s a way to relax your jaw muscles with a gentle massage, providing relief from muscle spasms during TMJ treatments.

Whitening Laser Light

A Faster and More Effective Whitening Process

The Rembrandt ® teeth whitening system uses a plasma arc light named the Rembrandt ® Sapphire ™. This bleaching light is out-fitted with a Rembrandt ® Whitening Crystal ™ which allows us to treat your upper and lower teeth at the same time. The 400-525nm wavelength emitted by the plasma lightactivates the Rembrandt ® tooth whitener to enhance its whitening effect.

Electric Handpieces

For your Comfort

Handpiece is the correct term for a dentist’s drill. Powered by air, traditional handpieces have a distinctive, shrill sound that is the reason many people cringe at the thought of it. Top Down Dental uses modern electric handpieces. Because they are quiet, they are a major improvement over traditional air-driven handpieces. They also vibrate much less giving your comfort and extra boost.

NuCalm Dental Sedation

Dental Sedation without Narcotics

NuCalm is a natural drug free sedation method that places your body in a relaxed state. This feeling is similar to the first stages of sleep, relaxed but still aware of your surroundings. This method allows you to respond to your dentist because you are not rendered unconscious and there are no narcotics used. This alternate process works well for those who fear the unconscious state of dental sedation.

LED Curing Lights

Bonding with Lasers

Halogen curing lights have traditionally been used to bond restorative materials such as the resin (plastic) material used in dental bonding. With the advancement of laser LED lights, we now have a faster, more efficient, and more comfortable way to restore your teeth.

Casey Patient Education

The device gives us reliable, accurate information to insure your sedation procedure is performed as safely as possible.

Isolite Isolation System

Faster, More Comfortable Treatments

The revolutionary Isolite comfortably props your mouth open, protects your throat, and keeps your tongue and cheeks out of the way during your dental procedure. Using suction, it keeps your teeth dry, allowing Dr. Nancy Nehawandian to complete your procedure 20 – 50 percent faster.

T-Scan Occlusal Analysis

T-Scan by TekscanIf your bite is causing you discomfort when you bite down or hold your teeth a certain way, it may be because your teeth are experiencing excess force from your muscles. T-Scan lets us measure the exact force, timing, and balance of your teeth throughout your bite. This helps us understand what is causing bite problems such as TMJ, protect your teeth from damage or wear, and ensure your restorations don’t interfere with the natural harmony of your bite.

Joint Vibration Analysis (JVA)

This non-invasive and quick technology allows us to evaluate your temporomandibular joints. JVA records the vibrations created by bone, cartilage, and joint fluid when you open and close your mouth. The information helps us diagnose the underlying problems that cause you pain.

EMG – Electromyography

Electronic Muscle Graphing is both a pain-free and non-invasive way to measure the way your jaw muscles chew, clench, swallow, and rest.  The information helps us understand how balanced your jaw muscle function is through the different steps of your treatment process.

MLS Warm Laser Technology

The MLS Warm Laser is a helpful tool to help reduce pain and inflammation in patients. It also helps promote healing. This drug-free approach can provide patients with instant pain relief!

JT-3D

The Jaw Tracker measure mandibular speed, position, and movement with a high accuracy sensor array to provide us with quantitative and reproducible data about jaw deviations, range of motion, and deflections.

M-Scan

This simple and fast device measures how your facial muscles function with easy to interpret data. We use this data to compare bilateral muscles for function and symmetry without pain and also helps us determine the effectiveness of any dental treatment or oral appliance we provide you.

Naris – Rhinometery/Rhinomanometry

Breathing through your nose is completely normal; however, when it’s not done completely correctly, it can affect the development and growth of your lower and upper jaws. The Naris technology measures your nose breathing and explores various treatments that may improve it.
